This course explores the importance of appreciation and gratitude and the true nature of compassion, virtue and loving kindness which overcomes the negative habit patterns of the mind. You will also develop the relationship between our lower mind and the innate state of pure awareness that is the very basis of our being.
‘Loving Kindness and the Awakened Heart’ explores how to transform the capacity for calm abiding and sustained concentration into the most positive mental attitudes of love, kindness, gratitude and compassion. Through the combination of careful instruction, deep reflection and the gradual maturing of our own insight we learn how these states emerge naturally within us, and that their absence or our difficulty in experiencing them is only the result of the unwholesome patterns and conditioning that block us.
As with all our online courses, you are supported at every step of the way. You will have a log-in to a dedicated section of the website where you can access the course material and share comments with other course participants. You can also seek personal guidance from the teacher if you should need further clarification at any stage.
Further reading is suggested. Relevant sections of Burg’s book “The Flavour of Liberation” will be available for free on the course website. You may wish to buy this book if you would like to put the relevant sections into their wider context and refer to the full comprehensive guide of meditation.
